Introduction Applicable
Some 1998 - 2000 model year LX 470 vehicles may have a condition in which the A/C condenser fan continues to run after the ignition is turned off due to corrosion in the relay connector. A repair kit (P/N 88840-60070) consisting of a new relay and sealant has been made available to correct this concern.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty*:

This repair is covered under the Lexus Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 48,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

*Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure





1. Remove A/C Condenser Fan Relay.

A. Disconnect the connector.

B. Remove the two relay bracket retaining bolts.

C. Remove the relay from the bracket.

2. Clean Connector Terminals of the Engine Wire Harness.

If necessary, replace the engine wire harness.





3. Connect the New Relay to the Wire Harness.

4. Wrap the Connector & Wire Harness With The Sealant Tape As Shown.





5. Press the Sealant Tape From All Sides To Ensure Good Contact.

NOTE:
Ensure that there is no gap between the relay and the sealant tape.

6. Reinstall the Relay to the Bracket.

7. Reinstall the A/C Condenser Relay Retaining Bracket and Torque the Retaining Bolts to:

5.0 Nm (55 kgf.cm, 48 in lbf)
