B. Telescope Motor and Cable Replacement
(REFER TO VIN RANGE CHART)1. If Not Already Completed, Follow Steps 1-12 in Procedure "A" to Gain Access to the Steering Column Assembly and Telescopic Motor.
2. Remove Telescopic Motor and Telescopic Cable
A. Remove the 2 bolts securing the telescopic motor to the column tube.
B. Remove the telescopic motor and telescopic cable.
3. Replace and Torque the Telescopic Shaft Set Nut
A. Carefully remove the telescopic shaft set nut (nut is staked on telescopic steering screw).
B. Install a new nut.
Torque: 0.8 N.m (8.2 kgf.cm, 7.1 in.lbf)
C. Stake the telescopic shaft set nut.
4. Install the New Telescopic Motor and Telescopic Cable Install the telescopic cable and new telescopic motor with the 2 telescopic motor bolts.
NOTE:
Apply a small amount of molybdenum disulfide lithium base grease to both ends of the telescopic cable prior to installation.
5. Verify No Other Procedures Need to be Performed
A. If not, go to next step.
B. If yes, go to next procedure before reassembly of vehicle.
6. Follow Steps 21-36 in Procedure "A" to Reassemble the Vehicle.
