Hood Sensor/Switch (For Alarm): Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTE: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH)
a. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and hood lock (engine hood courtesy switch).
3. DISCONNECT HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the hood lock control cable from the hood lock.
INSTALLATION
1. CONNECT HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
a. Install the hood lock control cable with the hood lock.
2. INSTALL HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH)
a. Apply MP grease to the sliding surface of the lock.
b. Install the hood lock (engine hood courtesy switch) with the 2 bolts and nut.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)
3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
4. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization. Testing and Inspection
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
