Rear Airbag Sensor
REMOVALCAUTION: Be sure to read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing.
1. REMOVE CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation
2. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE
3. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP
4. REMOVE SEAT BELT OUTER ANCHOR COVER
5. REMOVE REAR MAT SET PLATE
6. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SEAT ASSEMBLY
7. REMOVE STRIKER PLATE
8. REMOVE FRONT QUARTER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY
9. REMOVE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the 2 bolts and airbag sensor.
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: Be sure to read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing.
1. INSTALL REAR AIRBAG SENSOR
a. Install the airbag sensor with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 17.5 N.m (178 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
CAUTION:
- If the airbag sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace it with a new one.
- When installing the airbag sensor, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.
b. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the airbag sensor.
c. Connect the connector.
2. INSTALL FRONT QUARTER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY
3. INSTALL STRIKER PLATE
4. INSTALL REAR NO. 2 SEAT ASSEMBLY
5. INSTALL REAR MAT SET PLATE
6. INSTALL SEAT BELT OUTER ANCHOR COVER
7. INSTALL REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHER STRIP
8. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE
9. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
10. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
11. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Check the SRS warning light.
