Center Airbag Sensor

REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION: Be sure to read the "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.

3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL UPPER FRONT
5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER
6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF LH PLATE
7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER
8. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF RH PLATE

HINT: Use the same procedures for the front door scuff RH plate and the front door scuff LH plate.

9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM RH WEATHERSTRIP
10. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT: Use the same procedures for the cowl side trim sub-assembly RH and the cowl side trim sub-assembly LH

11. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL NO.2 UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
12. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
13. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER LH
14. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER RH

HINT: Use the same procedures for the floor carpet cover center RH and the floor carpet cover center LH.

15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER
16. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX HOLE COVER
17. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX NO.2 HOLE COVER

HINT: Use the same procedures for the console box No.2 hole cover and the console box hole cover.

18. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX
19. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX NO.1 DUCT
20. REMOVE CONSOLE COVER LOWER




a. Remove the 2 screws.
b. Disconnect the connector and remove the console cover lower.

21. REMOVE AIR DUCT REAR NO.2
22. REMOVE AIR DUCT REAR NO.1
23. REMOVE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the 3 connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly.




b. Remove the 3 bolts and the center airbag sensor assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
a. Check that the ignition switch is off.
b. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.

CAUTION: After disconnecting the negative battery terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.




c. Temporarily install the center airbag sensor assembly with the 3 bolts.

NOTE:
- If the center airbag sensor assembly has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace it with a new one.
- When installing the center airbag sensor assembly, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.

d. Tighten the 3 bolts to the specified torque.

Torque: 17.5 N.m (179 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)

e. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the center airbag sensor assembly.
f. Connect the 3 connectors to the center airbag sensor assembly.
g. Check that the water-proof sheet is properly set.

2. INSTALL AIR DUCT REAR NO.1
3. INSTALL AIR DUCT REAR NO.2
4. INSTALL CONSOLE COVER LOWER
a. Connect the connector to the console cover lower.




b. Install the console cover lower with the 2 screws.

5. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX NO.1 DUCT
6. INSTALL REAR CONSOLE BOX
7. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX HOLE COVER
8. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX NO.2 HOLE COVER

HINT: Use the same procedures for the console box No.2 hole cover and the console box hole cover.

9. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER
10. INSTALL FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER LH
11. INSTALL FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER RH

HINT: Use the same procedures for the floor carpet cover center RH and the floor carpet cover center LH.

12. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
13. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL NO.2 UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
14. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT: Use the same procedures for the cowl side trim sub-assembly RH and the cowl side trim sub-assembly LH

15. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM RH WEATHERSTRIP
16. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF LH PLATE
17. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER
18. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF RH PLATE

HINT: Use the same procedures for the front door scuff RH plate and the front door scuff LH plate.

19. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER
20. INSTALL CONSOLE PANEL UPPER FRONT
21. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY
22. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
23. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

HINT: Some systems need initialization when disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal.

24. INSPECT CHECK POWER SEAT FUNCTION
25. INSPECT SEAT HEATER OPERATION
26. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Inspect the SRS warning light.
