System Outline

This system aims to reduce steering force of the driver. Power steering ECU calculates the assist current, based on vehicle speed and other vehicle information besides output value from power steering torque sensor to control the power steering motor, resulting to assist the driver's steering force. In the system failure, output current to the power steering motor is shut off or is reduced gradually to make it manual steering condition or to limit the output current at certain level. At the same time, P/S warning in the combination meter is lit up to tell the abnormality to the driver.
