Engine Lubrication: Testing and Inspection








3MZ-FE LUBRICATION: LUBRICATION SYSTEM:

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL
(a) Warm up the engine and then wait for 5 minutes after turning the engine off, the oil level should be between the low level and full level marks of the dipstick.
If low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full level mark.
NOTE: Do not fill with engine oil above the full level mark.

2. CHECK ENGINE OIL QUALITY
(a) Check for deterioration, traces of water, discoloring, or thinning.
If the quality is visibly poor, replace the oil.
3. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER NO.1 Removal

4. SEPARATE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH Removal

5. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH Removal

6. REMOVE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.






(b) Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, remove the oil pressure switch.
7. INSTALL OIL PRESSURE GAUGE






(a) Install the oil pressure gauge.
8. WARM UP ENGINE
(a) Set the vehicle to inspection mode. Service Precautions

(b) Warm up the engine.
9. CHECK OIL PRESSURE
(a) Check the oil pressure. If the oil pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump Testing and Inspection.
Specification oil pressure:






10. REMOVE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE
11. INSTALL ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY






(a) Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of the oil pressure switch.
Adhesive:
Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344 or equivalent
(b) Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, install the oil pressure switch.
Torque: 15 Nm (153 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf)
NOTE: Do not start the engine within 1 hour of installation.

(c) Connect the oil pressure switch connector.
12. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK
13. INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH Installation

14. INSTALL FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH Installation

15. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER NO.1 Installation
