INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)

(a) Disconnect the connector from the engine room J/B (power distributor).
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Voltage:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK MODE MONITOR TERMINAL (HORN RELAY)

(a) Preparation
(1) Connect the connector.
(2) Remove the cover of the fusible link block assembly.
(3) Set the vehicle to the following conditions:

- Combination switch on
(b) Check voltage
(1) Measure the voltage between the Mode Monitor Terminal and body ground.
Standard voltage:

C -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHORT CIRCUIT DRIVEN SIDE BY RELAY)
B -- INSPECT ENGINE ROOM J/B (HORN RELAY)
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE ROOM J/B - MODE MONITOR TERMINAL)

(a) Disconnect the connector from the engine room J/B.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT ENGINE ROOM J/B (HORN RELAY)
(a) Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
(b) Remove the engine room J/B.
(c) Inspect the HORN relay.

(1) Connect the positive battery lead to terminal 2I-1 and 2B-9 of the engine room J/B and the negative lead to terminal 2H-13, 2F-1.

(2) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:

(3) Connect the battery negative lead to terminal 2H-9 of the J/B No.2.

(4) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:

NG -- REPLACE ENGINE ROOM J/B
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK COMBINATION SWITCH OPERATION
(a) Disconnect the 1I (1I-5) connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL J/B - COMBINATION SWITCH)
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE ROOM J/B - HORN)
(a) Disconnect the 2B (2B-10), H15 (H15-1) and H16 (H16-1) connectors.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. INSPECT HIGH PITCHED HORN ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove high pitched horn Removal.
(b) Inspect high pitched horn High Pitched Horn.
OK:
High pitched horn sounds.
NG -- REPLACE HIGH PITCHED HORN ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. INSPECT LOW PITCHED HORN ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove low pitched horn Removal.
(b) Inspect low pitched horn Low Pitched Horn.
OK:
Low pitched horn sounds.
NG -- REPLACE LOW PITCHED HORN ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
(a) Disconnect the 2H J/B No. 2 connector and 1D instrument panel J/B connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY
10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL J/B - COMBINATION SWITCH)
(a) Disconnect the C13 (C13-8) connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION SWITCH
11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHORT CIRCUIT DRIVEN SIDE BY RELAY)

(a) Preparation
(1) For easier disconnection, remove the engine room J/B and then take apart the connectors.
(2) Disconnect only the connector "2B".
(b) Check voltage
(1) Measure the voltage between the Mode Monitor Terminal and body ground.
Standard voltage:

B -- REPLACE ENGINE ROOM J/B
