B2416 - Height Control Sensor Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
w/o Air Suspension System:
The DTC is stored when the AFS ECU (headlight swivel ECU assembly) detects malfunctions in the rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH power source or rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH.
w/ Air Suspension System:
* The DTC is stored when the AFS ECU (headlight swivel ECU assembly) detects malfunctions in the front height control sensor LH power source or front height control sensor LH.
* The DTC is stored when the AFS ECU (headlight swivel ECU assembly) detects malfunctions in the rear height control sensor LH power source or rear height control sensor LH.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(b) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
OK:
DTC B2416 is not output.
NG -- CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION
OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK How To Proceed With Troubleshooting
2. CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION
(a) Check the vehicle condition.
Result
B -- CHECK FOR DTC (AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM)
A -- Continue to next step.
3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / AFS / Data List.
(e) Read the display on the Techstream.
AFS
OK:
Normal conditions listed above are displayed.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH)
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
(a) Connect 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series.
(b) Remove the rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH Components.
(c) Connect a positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 (SHB) and a negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal 1 (SHG).
(d) Measure the voltage between terminals 2 (SHRR) and 1 (SHG) while slowly moving the link up and down.

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH)
(a) Disconnect the A53 AFS ECU (headlight swivel ECU assembly) connector.
(b) Disconnect the R4 rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. INSPECT REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
(a) Connect 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series.
(b) Remove the rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH Components.
(c) Connect a positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 (SHB) and a negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal 1 (SHG).
(d) Measure the voltage between terminals 2 (SHRR) and 1 (SHG) while slowly moving the link up and down.

7. CHECK FOR DTC (AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM)
(a) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
OK:
DTC "C1712 Front Height Control Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction" and "C1714 Rear Height Control Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction" are not output.
NG -- GO TO AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM C1711
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / AFS / Data List.
(e) Read the display on the Techstream.

OK:

9. REPLACE SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU
(a) Temporarily replace the suspension control ECU with a new or normally functioning one C1711.
(b) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
OK:
DTC B2416 is not output.
NG -- REPLACE AFS ECU (HEADLIGHT SWIVEL ECU ASSEMBLY) Components
OK -- END
10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU - AFS ECU)
(a) Disconnect the A53 AFS ECU (headlight swivel ECU assembly) connector.
(b) Disconnect the A54 and A55 suspension control ECU connectors.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

11. REPLACE SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU
(a) Temporarily replace the suspension control ECU with a new or normally functioning one Components.
