MF1A TRANSFER / 4WD / AWD: ACTIVE TORQUE CONTROL 4WD SYSTEM: C1296: ABS Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
If a malfunction in the speed sensor signal circuit deceleration sensor circuit occurs, the 4WD control ECU will output this DTC.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT
Check the condition of each related circuit connector before troubleshooting Electronic Circuit Inspection Procedure.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Clear the DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(b) Turn the engine switch off.
(c) Turn the engine switch on (IG) again.
(d) Drive the vehicle, accelerate to a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph) or more, and check if the speed sensor DTC (brake control system DTC) is output.
Result:
HINT
When DTCs indicating a CAN communication system malfunction are output, repair the CAN communication system before repairing each corresponding sensor.
B -- REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATOR BY OUTPUT CODE (BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM) Vehicle Stability Control System
A -- Continue to next step.
2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Chassis / 4WD / Data List.
(e) Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
Standard:
OK:
The speed value output from the speed sensor displayed on the Techstream is the same as the actual vehicle speed measured using a speedometer tester (calibrated chassis dynamometer).
NG -- GO TO BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM Vehicle Stability Control System
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (DECELERATION SENSOR SIGNAL)
(a) Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
Standard:
OK:
The deceleration sensor output value is normal.
NG -- GO TO BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM Vehicle Stability Control System
OK -- REPLACE 4WD ECU ASSEMBLY
