CRUISE CONTROL: DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM: P1631: Communication Error from ECM to VSC
P1631 - Communication Error from ECM to VSC
DESCRIPTION
The ECM sends signals such as A/T information signals, dynamic radar cruise control operation signals, brake operation demand signals, and buzzer operation demand signals to the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) when the dynamic radar cruise control is in operation. The ECM is the only component that has a function to record and output the DTCs in the dynamic radar cruise control system. Therefore, if the skid control ECU detects a communication error from the ECM, it sends a malfunction signal back to the ECM.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DTC (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM)
(a) Check for DTCs Diagnosis System.
NG -- GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM CAN Communication System
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. REPLACE ECM
(a) Replace the ECM (for 2GR-FE) Components.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK DTC (RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM)
(a) Clear the DTCs Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System.
(b) Perform the following to make sure that the DTC detection conditions are met.
HINT
If the detection conditions are not met, the malfunction cannot be detected.
(1) Drive the vehicle at a speed of 50 km/h (31 mph) or more.
(2) Turn the cruise control main switch on.
(c) Check for DTCs Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System.
Result:
B -- REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY Components
A -- END
