REAR SUSPENSION: REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER (for AWD): REMOVAL
1. PRECAUTION (w/ Air Suspension)
NOTICE:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Suspension Control System.
2. PRECAUTION (w/ Navigation System for HDD)
NOTICE:
After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (w/ Air Suspension)
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
4. REMOVE REAR WHEELS
5. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
6. DRAIN DIFFERENTIAL OIL Replacement
7. REMOVE TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Removal
8. REMOVE PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY Removal
9. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER LH
(a) Remove the rear suspension arm cover LH.

10. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER RH

11. SEPARATE REAR SPEED SENSOR LH Removal

(a) Remove the 4 nuts and the rear stabilizer bar with 2 rear stabilizer bushings and 2 rear No. 1 stabilizer bar brackets.
26. REMOVE REAR PNEUMATIC CYLINDER ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Air Suspension) Removal
27. REMOVE REAR PNEUMATIC CYLINDER ABSORBER ASSEMBLY RH (w/ Air Suspension)
HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.
28. LOOSEN REAR LOWER SHOCK ABSORBER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Loosen the 2 bolts to remove the rear axle carrier sub-assembly LH after removing the rear trailing arm assembly LH.
CAUTION:
Do not remove the bolts.
29. LOOSEN REAR LOWER SHOCK ABSORBER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

Perform the same procedure as the LH side.
30. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly LH.

38. REMOVE REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the bolt (A) and nut, and then separate the rear upper control arm assembly LH from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly LH.
NOTICE:
Since the stopper nut is used, loosen the bolt (A).
(b) Remove the nut (B), spacer, 2 bolts (C) and rear axle carrier sub-assembly LH.
NOTICE:
* Be careful not to damage the rear drive shaft outboard joint boot.
* Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the rear drive shaft assembly from hanging down.
39. REMOVE REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

40. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the rear drive shaft assembly LH.

41. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH

42. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT SNAP RING LH
(a) Remove the rear drive shaft snap ring LH.

43. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT SNAP RING RH

44. REMOVE REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY WITH DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT Removal
45. REMOVE FRAME WIRE
(a) Remove the bolt and disconnect the connectors, and then disengage the clamps to separate the frame wire from rear suspension member as shown in the illustration.
HINT
* There are only the connector (A) and the clamp (A) on vehicles with the HID headlight system.
* There are only the connector (B) and the clamp (B) on vehicles with the air suspension.
46. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Support the rear suspension member with a jack using 2 wooden blocks and 2 attachments or equivalent tools as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
Make sure to secure the rear suspension member to prevent it from dropping.
(b) Remove the 2 nuts, 4 bolts, 2 rear lower suspension braces and 2 rear lower suspension member stoppers.
(c) Slowly lower the rear suspension member.
NOTICE:
When lowering the rear suspension member, be careful not to damage the vehicle body or other components installed on the vehicle.
47. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the bolt, nut and rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly LH from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
Since the stopper nut is used, loosen the bolt.
48. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH
HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.
49. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER UPPER STOPPER
(a) Remove the 2 rear suspension member upper stoppers.
50. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR UPPER STOPPER
(a) Remove the 2 rear suspension member rear upper stoppers.
51. REMOVE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (w/ HID Headlight System)
(a) Remove the bolt (B) and separate the rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH from the rear upper control arm assembly RH.
(b) Remove the bolt (A), 2 nuts and rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
52. REMOVE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Air Suspension)
(a) Remove the bolt (B) and separate the rear height control sensor sub-assembly LH from the rear upper control arm assembly LH.
(b) Remove the bolt (A), 2 nuts and rear height control sensor sub-assembly LH from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
53. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR LH
(a) Remove the 2 bolts, nut and rear speed sensor wire LH.
54. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR RH
(a) Remove the 2 bolts, the nut and the rear speed sensor wire RH.
55. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH Removal
56. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH Removal
57. REMOVE REAR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION Replacement
58. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for LH Side)
(a) Using a chisel and hammer, bend the 2 portions of the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion rib.

NOTICE:
Make sure to bend the 2 portions of the cushion rib until the claws of SST can fit securely.
(b) Install SST as shown in the illustration.

Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (center bolt) before use.
(c) Using SST, separate the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion (LH Side) from the rear suspension member sub-assembly, while applying grease to the clearance between the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion (LH Side) and the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

(d) Remove SST and the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion (LH Side) from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
59. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for RH Side)

Perform the same procedure as the LH side.
60. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNT CUSHION LH
(a) Using a chisel and hammer, bend the 2 portions of the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion LH rib.

Make sure to bend the 2 portions of the cushion rib until the claws of SST can fit securely.
(b) Install SST as shown in the illustration.
