2GR-FE ENGINE CONTROL: SFI SYSTEM: Active Control Engine Mount System
- Active Control Engine Mount System
DESCRIPTION
LOCATION
The active control engine mount system decreases engine vibration at a low engine speed using the vacuum switching valve for ACM. The vacuum switching valve for ACM is controlled by a pulse signal transmitted to the vacuum switching valve for ACM from the ECM. The frequency of this pulse signal is matched to the engine speed to decrease engine vibration.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK VACUUM HOSES
(a) If the hose is damaged, replace the vacuum hose assembly.
(b) Check the air and vacuum hoses for looseness, disconnection and blockage.
Text in Illustration
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE VACUUM HOSES
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK VACUUM
(a) Start the engine.
(b) Disconnect the vacuum hose from the air cleaner cap.
(c) Check that the disconnected port located on the vacuum tank applies suction to your finger.
OK:
Vacuum exists.
(d) Reconnect the vacuum hose.
NG -- CHECK AND REPLACE VACUUM SOURCE AND HOSES
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE FOR ACM (OPERATION)
(a) Remove the vacuum switching valve for ACM.
(b) Check operation of the vacuum switching valve for ACM when battery voltage is applied to the terminals of the vacuum switching valve for ACM connector.
Battery voltage is not applied:
The air from pipe G flows out through pipes E and H.
Battery voltage is applied:
The air from pipe F flows out through pipes E and H.
(c) Reinstall the vacuum switching valve for ACM.
NG -- REPLACE VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE FOR ACM
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE FOR ACM (RESISTANCE)
(a) Disconnect the vacuum switching valve for ACM connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
Text in Illustration
(c) Reconnect the vacuum switching valve for ACM connector.
NG -- REPLACE VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE FOR ACM
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. INSPECT FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR
(a) Disconnect the vacuum hose from the front engine mount insulator assembly.
(b) Using a vacuum pump, apply vacuum of 80 kPa (600 mmHg, 25 in.Hg) and wait for 1 minute.
(c) Check that there is no change in the needle movement of the vacuum pump gauge.
(d) Check that there is no fluid leakage caused by a break in the diaphragm.
OK:
Vacuum does not leak.
(e) Reconnect the vacuum hose.
NG -- REPLACE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. INSPECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE FOR ACM (POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE)
(a) Disconnect the vacuum switching valve for ACM connector.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
Text in Illustration
(d) Reconnect the vacuum switching valve for ACM connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (EFI NO. 2 FUSE - VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE FOR ACM)
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE FOR ACM - ECM)
(a) Disconnect the vacuum switching valve for ACM connector.
(b) Disconnect the ECM connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for Open):
Standard Resistance (Check for Short):
Text in Illustration
(d) Reconnect the ECM connector.
(e) Reconnect the vacuum switching valve for ACM connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE FOR ACM - ECM)
OK -- REPLACE ECM Removal
