2GR-FE LUBRICATION: OIL PUMP: REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION (w/ Air Suspension)

CAUTION:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before service Suspension Control System.

2. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE

HINT
* Remove engine assembly with transaxle for 2WD Removal.
* Remove engine assembly with transaxle for AWD Removal.
3. SECURE ENGINE

4. REMOVE NO. 1 OIL PIPE Disassembly

5. REMOVE OIL PIPE Disassembly

6. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY Removal

7. SEPARATE OIL COOLER PIPE (w/ Oil Cooler)

(a) Remove the bolt and 2 nuts, and disconnect the oil cooler pipe from the oil pan sub-assembly.





(b) Remove the gasket from the oil pan sub-assembly.

8. REMOVE WATER INLET HOUSING Disassembly

9. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1) Disassembly

10. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2) Disassembly

11. REMOVE NO. 2 OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY Disassembly

12. REMOVE OIL STRAINER SUB-ASSEMBLY Disassembly

13. REMOVE OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY Disassembly

14. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 23 bolts and 2 nuts shown in the illustration.





(b) Remove the timing chain cover by prying between the timing chain cover and cylinder head or cylinder block with a screwdriver.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the contact surfaces of the cylinder head, cylinder block and chain cover.

HINT
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

(c) Remove the gasket.





15. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN COVER OIL SEAL

(a) Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal.
