AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: REAR AXLE HUB: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
1. PRECAUTION (w/ Air Suspension)
NOTICE:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Suspension Control System.
2. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
3. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY Disassembly
4. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG Removal
5. REMOVE REAR DISC Removal
6. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS
(a) Using a dial indicator, check for looseness near the center of the rear axle hub.
Maximum looseness:
0 mm (0 in.)
NOTICE:
* Ensure that the dial indicator is set perpendicular to the measurement surface.
* Keep the magnet of the dial indicator away from the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
HINT
If the looseness exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
7. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB RUNOUT
(a) Using a dial indicator, check for runout on the surface of the rear axle hub outside the rear axle hub bolt.
Maximum runout:
0.08 mm (0.00314 in.)
NOTICE:
* Ensure that the dial indicator is set perpendicular to the measurement surface.
* Keep the magnet of the dial indicator away from the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
HINT
If the runout exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
8. INSTALL REAR DISC Installation
9. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG Installation
10. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY Reassembly
11. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE AND PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL Adjustments
12. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque : 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)
