U660E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: SHIFT LEVER: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSEMBLY

(a) Inspect shift lock operation.

(1) Move the shift lever to P.

(2) Turn the engine switch off.

(3) Check that the shift lever cannot be moved from P to any other position.

(4) Turn the engine switch on (IG), depress the brake pedal, and check that the shift lever can be moved from P to any other position.

If the operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the shift lock control unit.

(b) Inspect shift lock release button operation.

(1) Turn the engine switch off.

(2) Using a screwdriver, remove the shift lock release cover.

(3) When moving the shift lever with the shift lock release button pressed, check that the shift lever can be moved from P to any other position.

If the operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the shift lock control unit.
