DESCRIPTION

By operating the deicer switch while the engine switch is on (IG), the windshield deicer can be activated. For vehicles with the navigation system, the operation signals are sent to the air conditioning amplifier assembly via CAN communication. For vehicles without the navigation system, the operation signals are sent directly from the front wiper deicer switch to the air conditioning amplifier assembly. The windshield deicer system is controlled by the air conditioning amplifier assembly. On receiving a deicer switch on signal, the air conditioning amplifier assembly turns on the DEICER relay for 15 minutes. If the air conditioning amplifier assembly receives a deicer switch off signal while the DEICER relay is on, it turns off the relay.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (Battery Voltage Lo Record)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Chassis / EMPS / Data List.

(e) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FRONT DEICER RELAY)

(a) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Active Test.

(b) Using the Techstream, perform Active Test.

3. INSPECT FRONT WIPER DEICER SWITCH

(a) Remove the front wiper deicer switch Removal.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY POWER SOURCE)

(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DEICER RELAY TERMINAL - BODY GROUND)

(a) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

(a) Reconnect the deicer relay.

10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DEICER RELAY TERMINAL - BODY GROUND)

(b) Disconnect the A35 windshield glass (windshield deicer wire) connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
