INTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD: REMOVAL
1. PRECAUTION
Service Precautions
NOTICE:
w/ Navigation System for HDD:
After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
2. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
(a) Disable the auto tilt away function by changing the customize parameter Programming and Relearning.
NOTICE:
Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the auto tilt away function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing this operation.
HINT
Performing the above operation disables the auto tilt away function when the engine switch is turned off.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.
(c) Turn the engine switch off and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal
5. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal
6. REMOVE STEERING PAD Removal
7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Removal
8. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER Removal
9. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER Removal
10. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
11. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Turn the shift lever knob sub-assembly counterclockwise and remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.
12. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Move the shift lever to N.
(b) Pull the upper console panel sub-assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 4 claws and 4 clips.
(c) w/o Seat Heater System:
(1) Disconnect the connector from the console box hole cover.
(d) w/ Seat Heater System:
(1) Disengage the 4 claws.
(2) Disconnect the connector and remove the seat heater switch assembly.
(e) Pull the upper console panel sub-assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 3 claws and 3 clips.
(f) Disconnect each connector.
(g) Disengage the clamp and remove the upper console panel sub-assembly.
13. REMOVE CONSOLE CUP HOLDER BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 5 screws and console cup holder box sub-assembly.

(a) Remove the console box cup holder from the console cup holder box sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

(a) Remove the 2 screws.

(b) Disengage the claw and 2 guides as shown in the illustration.
(c) Disconnect each connector.
(d) Disengage each clamp and remove the No. 1 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.
22. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL GARNISH LH
(a) Using moulding remover B, disengage the 6 clips and remove the instrument panel garnish LH as shown in the illustration.
23. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE
(a) Push the No. 1 switch hole base in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 4 claws and 2 guides.
(b) Disconnect each connector and remove the No. 1 switch hole base.
24. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Disengage the 2 claws and open the cover as shown in the illustration.
(b) Remove the 2 screws.

(c) Disengage the 8 clips and 2 guides.
(d) Disconnect each connector and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly.
25. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL CUP HOLDER
(a) Open the cup holder.
(b) Disengage the 2 claws as shown in the illustration.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to break the claws. If any of them breaks, replace the instrument panel cup holder with a new one.
(c) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the instrument panel cup holder outer case.
(d) Remove the 4 screws and the instrument panel cup holder.

(a) Pull the lower instrument panel finish panel in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 7 clips and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel.

(b) Disengage each clamp.
(c) Disengage the 2 claws and disconnect the room temperature sensor.
(d) Remove the 2 passenger airbag bolts.
(e) Remove the 6 bolts and nut.
(f) Remove the 2 clips.
(g) Disengage the 5 claws and remove the instrument panel safety pad assembly.
NOTICE:
* Do not damage the instrument panel safety pad assembly.
* Do not allow the wire harnesses to interfere with the surrounding parts.

59. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL STAY
(a) Disengage the 5 claws and remove the 5 No. 3 instrument panel stays.
