DESCRIPTION

The illuminated entry system controls the engine switch illumination.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Access / Active Test.

(e) Check that the the illumination operates.

Smart Access





OK:

Engine switch illumination comes on.

NG -- INSPECT ENGINE SWITCH

OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE From 08/2009

2. INSPECT ENGINE SWITCH

(a) Remove the engine switch Components.





(b) Connect a positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 11 and a negative (-) lead to terminal 5.

(c) Check that the illumination comes on.

OK:

Engine switch illumination comes on.

NG -- REPLACE ENGINE SWITCH Components
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE SWITCH - CERTIFICATION ECU AND BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the F58 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.





(b) Disconnect the F22 engine switch connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:
