HYBRID / BATTERY CONTROL: HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM: P0705-757: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit
P0705-757 - Transmission Range Sensor Circuit
DESCRIPTION
The shift lever position sensor can send 8 different switch signals to the power management control ECU (HV CPU). The power management control ECU (HV CPU) uses the signals to detect the shift lever position (P, R, N, or D). The power management control ECU (HV CPU) also uses this information to determine intended direction of travel (forward or reverse).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SHIFT POSITION)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Shift Sensor SW - P, Shift Sensor SW - R, Shift Sensor SW - N, Shift Sensor SW - D, Shift Sensor SW - RV, Shift Sensor SW - FD, Shift Sensor SW - MJ,.
(d) While slowly moving the shift lever from P to B, then back to P, read the Data List (shift position) displayed on the Techstream.
HINT
Be sure to move the shift lever slowly.
Result:
(e) Check if DTCs are output.
OK:
DTC P0705-757 is not output.
(f) Turn the power switch off.
NG -- CHECK SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
(a) Check for intermittent problems Check For Intermittent Problems.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA
OK -- REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU Components
3. CHECK SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR
(a) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
Text in Illustration
(c) Turn the power switch off.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)
OK -- REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU Components
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)
(a) Disconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
Text in Illustration
NOTICE:
Turning the power switch on (IG) with the shift lever position sensor connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
(d) Turn the power switch off.
(e) Connect the shift lever position sensor connector.
NG -- CHECK AND REPAIR POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR
(a) Disconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for Open):
Standard Resistance (Check for Short):
Text in Illustration
NOTICE:
*1: The resistance between terminals D8-8 (+B) and D8-2 (N) should be between 4.2 and 5.2 kOhms.
(c) Connect the shift lever position sensor connector.
NG -- REPLACE SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR
OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
