DESCRIPTION
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
The battery smart unit monitors for an abnormal drop of HV battery voltage. If an abnormal drop of HV battery voltage is detected, the power management control ECU (HV CPU) will turn on the MIL and set a DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
- Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
- Turn the power switch off.
- Turn the power switch on (READY).
- Move the shift lever to D and leave the vehicle as is for several minutes.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
- Check that permanent DTCs are cleared.
- If the permanent DTCs are not cleared, perform a universal trip, and then check for permanent DTCs again.
HINT
- If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
(d) Check if DTCs are output.
Result:
(e) Turn the power switch off.

A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK ENGINE START
(a) Turn the power switch on (READY).
(b) Check if the engine starts.
HINT
Depressing the accelerator pedal with the shift lever in the P position will cause the engine to start.
Result:
(c) Turn the power switch off.
B -- CHARGE HV BATTERY
A -- LEAVE VEHICLE IN P POSITION, AND CHARGE HV BATTERY IN IDLE STATUS UNTIL IDLING STOPS
