HYBRID / BATTERY CONTROL: HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM: P314A-828: Inverter Coolant Pump Speed Signal
P314A-828 - Inverter Coolant Pump Speed Signal

DESCRIPTION

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The power management control ECU (HV CPU) monitors speed of the water pump with motor assembly. If there is an abnormality in speed, the power management control ECU (HV CPU) will illuminate the MIL and set a DTC.

MONITOR STRATEGY

TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS

TYPICAL MALFUNCTION THRESHOLDS

COMPONENT OPERATING RANGE

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

- Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.

- Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).

- Turn the power switch off.

- Turn the power switch on (READY) and after a few seconds, turn the power switch off. [A]

- Repeat [A] 3 times. [B]

- Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.

- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes. [C]

- Check that permanent DTCs are cleared.

- If the permanent DTCs are not cleared, perform the universal trip, and then check for permanent DTCs again.

HINT
- If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
If DTC P0A78-284, 286, P0A79-692, 696, P0A7A-322, 324, P0A94-553 or 557 is output, replace the inverter with converter assembly after this inspection.

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (ACTIVATE THE WATER PUMP)

NOTICE:
Be sure to perform the inspection with the auxiliary battery voltage at 11 V or more.

HINT
When the auxiliary battery voltage is low, the water pump with motor assembly may not operate.

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(c) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / Activate the Water Pump.

(d) Perform the Activate the Water Pump Active Test.

(e) Touch the water pump with motor assembly and check that it is operating (vibrating).

OK:

The water pump is operating (vibrating).

(f) Turn the power switch off.

NG -- CHECK FUSE (INV W/P)
OK -- Continue to next step.
