Removal





INTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD: REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

Service Precautions

NOTICE:

w/ Navigation System for HDD:

After the power switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

2. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

3. REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX Removal

4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

(a) Disable the auto tilt away function by changing the customize parameter Programming and Relearning.

NOTICE:
Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the auto tilt away function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing this operation.

HINT
Performing the above operation disables the auto tilt away function when the power switch is turned off.

(b) Turn the power switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.

(c) Turn the power switch off and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

5. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal

6. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal

7. REMOVE STEERING PAD Removal

8. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Removal

9. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER Removal

10. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

11. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Turn the shift lever knob sub-assembly counterclockwise and remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.





12. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Move the shift lever to N.





(b) Pull the upper console panel sub-assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 4 claws and 4 clips.

(c) w/o Seat Heater System:

(1) Disconnect the connector from the console box hole cover.

(d) w/ Seat Heater System:





(1) Disengage the 4 claws.

(2) Disconnect the connector and remove the seat heater switch assembly.

(e) Pull the upper console panel sub-assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 3 claws and 3 clips.





(f) Disconnect each connector.

(g) Disengage the clamp and remove the upper console panel sub-assembly.

13. REMOVE CONSOLE CUP HOLDER BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 5 screws [F] and console cup holder box sub-assembly.





14. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CUP HOLDER

(a) Remove the console box cup holder from the console cup holder box sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.





15. REMOVE NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX DUCT Removal

16. REMOVE CONSOLE REAR END PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

17. REMOVE MULTI-MEDIA INTERFACE ECU ASSEMBLY (w/ USB Audio System) Removal

18. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY Removal

19. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH Removal

20. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal

21. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 screws [D].





(b) Disengage the claw and 2 guides as shown in the illustration.





(c) Disconnect each connector.

(d) Disengage each clamp and remove the No. 1 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.

22. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL GARNISH LH

(a) Using moulding remover B, disengage the 6 clips and remove the instrument panel garnish LH as shown in the illustration.





23. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE

(a) Push the No. 1 switch hole base in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 4 claws and 2 guides.





(b) Disconnect each connector and remove the No. 1 switch hole base.

24. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disengage the 2 claws and open the cover as shown in the illustration.





(b) Remove the 2 screws [D].





(c) Disengage the 8 clips and 2 guides.

(d) Disconnect each connector and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly.

25. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL CUP HOLDER OUTER CASE

(a) Open the cup holder.

(b) Disengage the 2 claws as shown in the illustration.





NOTICE:
Be careful not to break the claws. If any of them breaks, replace the instrument panel cup holder outer case with a new one.

(c) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the instrument panel cup holder outer case.





26. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL CUP HOLDER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 4 screws [F] and instrument panel cup holder sub-assembly.





27. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal

28. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL HOLE COVER

(a) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the No. 1 instrument panel hole cover.

Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

29. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL HOLE COVER

Use the same procedure as for the No. 1 instrument panel hole cover.

30. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL

(a) Remove the 2 clips.





(b) Remove the 2 screws [E] and No. 1 instrument cluster finish panel.

31. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 screws [G].





(b) Disengage each connector and remove the combination meter assembly.

32. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL

(a) Apply protective tape to the areas shown in the illustration.

(b) Insert moulding remover B and D as shown in the illustration.

(c) Pull down moulding remover B in direction (1). With moulding remover B being pulled down, pull down moulding remover D in direction (2) to disengage the clip and guide.

(d) Apply protective tape to the areas shown in the illustration.

(e) Insert moulding remover B and D as shown in the illustration.

(f) Pull down moulding remover B in direction (1). With moulding remover B being pulled down, pull down moulding remover D in direction (2) to disengage the clip.

(g) Disengage the 2 clips and remove the center instrument cluster finish panel as shown in the illustration.





33. REMOVE ACCESSORY METER ASSEMBLY (w/o Navigation System) Removal

35. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL

(a) Pull the instrument panel finish panel in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the claw, 2 clips and 2 guides, and remove the instrument panel finish panel.





36. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL

(a) Pull the lower instrument panel finish panel in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 7 clips and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel.





37. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH REGISTER Removal

38. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX COVER

(a) Using moulding remover A, disengage the 2 clips and 5 guides.





(b) Disconnect the connector and remove the front console box cover.

39. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX

(a) Remove the 5 screws [D].





(b) Disengage the 2 clamps.

(a) Disengage the 4 claws and 2 guides as shown in the illustration.





(b) Disconnect the connector and remove the No. 2 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.

43. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL GARNISH RH

Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

44. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal

45. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 5 screws [F].





(b) Disengage the claw, 4 clips and guide.





(c) Disconnect each connector and remove the glove compartment door assembly.

46. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH Removal

50. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY

(a) Disengage the 4 claws and 3 clips, and remove the No. 1 instrument panel register assembly.





51. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the No. 1 instrument panel register assembly.

52. REMOVE NO. 1 SPEAKER OPENING COVER ASSEMBLY

(a) Using moulding remover A, disengage the 10 claws and 4 clips, and remove the No. 1 speaker opening cover assembly.





53. REMOVE FRONT NO. 4 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY Removal

54. REMOVE NO. 1 DEFROSTER NOZZLE GARNISH

(a) Using moulding remover B, disengage the 11 clips.

HINT
Apply protective tape to the areas where moulding remover B is to be inserted.

(b) Disengage the 7 claws.

(c) Disengage the 2 claws.





(d) Disconnect the connector and remove the automatic light control sensor.

(e) Remove the No. 1 defroster nozzle garnish.

55. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY Removal

56. REMOVE NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX DUCT

(a) Remove the screw [D] and the No. 1 console box duct.





57. DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY Removal

58. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect each connector.

(b) Disengage each clamp.

(c) Disengage the 2 claws and disconnect the room temperature sensor.





(d) Remove the 2 passenger airbag bolts [A] or [B].

(e) Remove the 6 bolts [C] and nut [H] or [I].

(f) Remove the 2 clips.

(g) Disengage the 5 claws and remove the instrument panel safety pad assembly.

NOTICE:
* Do not damage the instrument panel safety pad assembly.
* Do not allow the wire harnesses to interfere with the surrounding parts.

59. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL STAY

(a) Disengage the 5 claws and remove the 5 No. 3 instrument panel stays.
