Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair
1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.

2. Using a Torx 30 (special tool No. 09042-00010), or equivalent, loosen screws from wheel pad, Fig. 1. Pull wheel pad out and disconnect airbag connector. Store airbag face up.

3. Remove steering wheel retaining nut, disconnect steering connector, Fig 2. Place scribe marks on steering wheel and shaft, then remove steering wheel using special tool SST 09213-31021, or equivalent.
4. Remove front pillar garnish by pulling out clips and pulling upward.

5. Remove No. 1 undercover, Fig. 3.

6. Remove two screws from hood release, then the hood release lever. Remove No. 1 speaker panel. Disconnect rheostat and mirror defogger connectors. Remove seven bolts from lower finish panel, remove panel, as shown in Fig. 4.
7. Remove five cluster finish panel screws, pull out panel, disconnect connectors, remove panel.
8. Remove five steering column screws, two bolts and cover.
9. Remove four combination meter screws, speedometer cable, disconnect meter connectors, remove meter.
10. Remove No. 2 undercover, Fig. 3.
11. Remove glove compartment check arm screw and remove arm. Remove four glove box screws, disconnect connector, pull out box.

12. Remove two glove box door screws and door.
13. Remove right lower panel as follows, referring to Fig. 5:
a. Remove No. 2 speaker panel.
b. Remove five bolts, three screws and two nuts. Remove panel.
14. Remove center cluster finish panel, held in by retaining clips.
15. Remove four radio screws, disconnect connectors and antenna cable.
16. Remove four heater control screws and heater control.
17. Remove two No. 3 instrument panel register screws and panel.

18. Remove center lower panel by removing nine screws from panel, four bolts from lower console box, then pull out panel, Fig. 6.
19. Remove side defroster nozzles, Fig. 3.
20. Remove nut connecting center bracket and dash panel.
21. Remove lefthand speaker, two junction block screws, remove junction block No. 3.

22. Remove speedometer cable from dash panel bracket. Remove four bolts, two screws and two nuts from dash panel, Fig. 7. Remove dash panel by pulling up at an angle. Remove clips and disconnect connectors.

23. Remove the following parts from dash panel, Fig. 8:
a. Defroster nozzle.
b. No. 2 instrument panel register.
c. No. 3 heater register duct.
d. No. 3 heater register duct.
e. No. 1 heater register duct.
f. No. 1 instrument panel register.
g. Center bracket.
24. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. When reinstalling speedometer cable, pull on cable guide housing.
b. Torque steering wheel retaining nut to 26 ft. lbs.
c. Torque airbag retaining screws to 65 inch lbs.
