Speed Sensor Diagnostic System
While checking the speed sensor diagnosis system, the ABS does not function and the brakes function as a standard brake system.
1. Ensure the battery voltage is approximately 12 volts and the ``ANTI-LOCK'' warning light is functioning.
2. Remove the rubber cap from the Ts connector then, connect the terminals.
3. On all models, set the parking brake and start the engine.
4. Pump brake pedal four to six times within two seconds.
5. Warning light should blink about four times per second.
6. Release parking brake, then inspect sensor signal level by driving vehicle straight ahead on a level surface between two and four mph. While the warning light is off, do not suddenly accelerate, decelerate, brake or swerve. The warning light will turn on after a one second pause. Accelerate over 4 mph; if the warning light blinks, the speed sensors are functioning correctly. If the light stays on without blinking, stop the vehicle, then read the diagnostic (trouble) code. Refer to SPEED SENSOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE.
7. Release parking brake, then inspect sensor signal change by driving vehicle straight ahead on a level surface between 28 and 34 mph. While the warning light is off, do not suddenly accelerate, decelerate brake or swerve, the warning light will turn on after after a one second pause. Accelerate to above 34 mph, If the warning light blinks, the sensor rotors are functioning correctly. If the light stays on without blinking stop the vehicle and read the diagnostic (trouble) code. Do not set the parking brake or depress the brake more than 16 times or the diagnostic (trouble) codes in the computer will be erased.
9. After testing is completed: Turn ignition switch on, then connect the actuator connector. Remove wire from Ts connector and install rubber cap.
