Removal
1. Remove valve body as described in VALVE BODY.
2. Remove parking lock pawl bracket, then remove parking lock rod and retaining spring.
3. Remove manual valve shaft as follows:
a. Using a hammer and chisel, pry and turn the collar.
b. With the hammer and a punch, drive out the pin, Fig. 7.
c. Slide out the shaft and remove detent plate.
4. If necessary, replace oil seal of manual shaft.
Installation
1. Install manual valve shaft into case as follows:
a. Assemble a new collar to the manual lever.
b. Install manual valve shaft to the transmission case through the manual valve lever.
c. Drive in roll pin with slot at a right angle to the shaft.
d. Match collar hole to lever calking hollow and calk collar to the lever.
2. Install retaining spring, then ensure that lever moves smoothly.
3. Install parking lock rod and parking lock pawl bracket.
4. Install valve body as described in VALVE BODY.
