Title FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD KIT (REVISED)


To increase front brake pad durability and reduce brake squeak noise, a new pad material is now available.

APPLICATION:

1. If a customer has a complaint of premature front brake pad wear or squeaking, the pad kit part number 04491-50040 should be replaced along with the appropriate front disc as a set.


2. For regular brake service, or complaints of brake feeling *(1), use front pad kit part number 04491-50011, which is the same material as original production. Front discs are not required with this pad kit, unless the thickness is less than minimum specification *(2).

*(1) Some 1990 model LS400's may have 1991 model brake discs installed, as detailed in

TSIB Brakes # 006, Brake Feeling. These vehicles can be identified by noting the number of pistons in the front caliper - 1990 model has one piston, 1991 model has two. If a customer has a complaint of brake feeling, the brake pad kit part number 04491-50011 (original equipment) should be used.

*(2) Front Disc minimum thickness specification:

1990 model - 23.0 mm (0.906 in.)
1991 model - 26.0 mm (1.024 in.)
