Removal and Installation
Fig. 1 Differential Carrier Component Removal:
For the following removal and installation procedure, refer to Fig. 1 for component location.
1. Remove exhaust front pipe, then the propeller shaft.
2. Drain differential oil.
3. Place alignment marks on driveshafts and differential. Use axle bolt removal tool No. 09043-38100, or equivalent, remove driveshafts from differential and support with wire.
4. Support differential with jack. Remove two bolts from rear of differential. Then remove bolt from differential side support.
5. Remove mount upper stopper from differential.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque side support bolt to 87 ft. lbs.

b. Use special service tool No. 09572-50010, or equivalent, to hold rear support bushings in place during tightening, Fig. 2. Torque rear support bolts to 90 ft. lbs.
c. Torque driveshafts to 61 ft. lbs.
d. Fill with 1.4 qts. of SAE 80w-90 gear oil.
