Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair
1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.

2. Remove front pillar garnish, front inside scuff plate, and front door opening cover, Fig. 9.
3. Remove cowl side trim.

4. Using a Torx 30 (special tool 09042-00010) or equivalent, loosen screws from wheel pad, Fig. 10. Pull wheel pad out and disconnect airbag connector. Store airbag face up.

5. Remove steering wheel retaining nut and disconnect connector, Fig. 2. Place scribe marks on steering wheel and shaft, then remove steering wheel using special tool SST 09213-31021, or equivalent.

6. Remove safety pad No. 2 as follows:
a. Remove two screws and hood lock release lever, Fig. 11.
b. Remove fuse cover.
c. Remove room temperature sensor, then disconnect connector.
d. Remove four bolts and safety pad No. 2.
7. Remove five screws and steering column covers.
8. Disconnect combination switch connectors, then remove four screws and combination switch.
9. Remove undercover No. 2 by pulling and disconnecting three clips.
10. Remove instrument panel No. 2 by removing two screws and pulling and disconnecting five clips.
11. Disconnect dampner ring from glove compartment door check arm, then remove three nuts and door.
12. Remove upper screw and glove compartment.
13. Using a screwdriver, pry off console upper panel.
14. Using a screwdriver, pry off center cluster finish panel.
15. Remove four screws and front ash receptacle.
16. Remove console box cover, then two bolts four screws and console box, Fig. 12.
17. Using a screwdriver, pry out register No. 3.
18. Remove four bolts and radio with A/C control head assembly, then disconnect connectors.

19. Remove four screws, eight bolts, and brackets, then separate A/C control from radio, Fig. 13.
20. Remove two screws, then using a screwdriver, pry off cluster finish panel and disconnect connectors.
21. Remove four screws and combination meter, then disconnect connectors.
22. Using a screwdriver, pry off remote control mirror switch and disconnect connectors.
23. Remove one screw and register No. 2
24. Using a screwdriver, pry off instrument panel speaker cover. Remove two screws and speaker, then disconnect connector.
25. Using a screwdriver, remove side defroster nozzles No. 1 and No. 2
26. Disconnect spring from brake pedal, then remove four nuts and steering column.
27. Disconnect ground wires and all connectors and right and left hand side kick panels.

28. Remove six bolts, three nuts, and instrument panel, Fig. 14.
29. Remove three bolts, two nuts, and instrument panel brace No. 1, Fig. 15.
30. Remove three bolts, two nuts, and instrument panel brace No. 2, Fig. 15.
31. Remove instrument panel reinforcement as shown in Fig. 16.
32. Remove two bolts and lower mounting bracket No. 1.
33. Remove two bolts and lower mounting bracket No. 2.
34. Reverse procedure to install. Rearm airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
