26. ATTACH ENGINE SLING DEVICE TO ENGINE HANGERS
(a) Install the No.2 engine hanger in the correct direction.
Part No.:
No.2 engine hanger 12282 - 20020
Bolt 91642-80825
Torque: 19.5 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)
(b) Attach the engine chain hoist to the engine hangers.

CAUTION: Do not attempt to hang the engine by hooking the chain to anyother part.

27. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT RESERVOIR
28. DISCONNECT GROUND STRAPS
Disconnect the 2 straps.






29. REMOVE RH ENGINE MOUNTING STAY
Remove the 3 bolts and mounting stay.






30. REMOVE ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD AND NO.2 RH ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET
Remove the 3 bolts, control rod and mounting bracket.






31. REMOVE ENGINE AND TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY FROM VEHICLE
(a) Lift the engine out of the vehicle slowly and carefully.

NOTICE: Be careful not to hit the PS gear housing or park/neutral postion switch.

(b) Make sure the engine is clear of all wiring, hoses and cables.
(c) Place the engine and transaxle assembly onto the stand.
32. REMOVE FR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR
Remove the 4 bolts and mounting insulator.
33. REMOVE RR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR
Remove the 4 bolts and mounting insulator.
34. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET
Remove the 2 bolts and bracket.






COMPONENTS FOR ENGINE & TRANSAXLE SEPARATION AND ASSEMBLY






ENGINE & TRANSAXLE SEPARATION
1. REMOVE OIL DIPSTICK GUIDE AND DIPSTICK FOR TRANSAXLE
(a) Remove the mounting bolt.
(b) Pull out the dipstick guide and dipstick from the port of transaxle.
(c) Remove the 0-ring from the dipstick guide.
2. REMOVE STARTER
3. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE FROM TRANSAXLE
Disconnect these connectors and clamps:
- VSS connector
- PNP switch connector
- Solenoid connector
- Direct clutch speed sensor connector
- 2 engine wire clamps from bracket






4. REMOVE TRANSAXLE
A. Remove torque converter clutch mounting bolt8
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and flywheel housing under cover.
(b) Turn the crankshaft pulley bolt to gain access to each bolt.
(c) Hold the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench, and remove the 6 bolts.






B. Remove transaxle
(a) Remove the bolt, nut and RH exhaust manifold stay.
(b) Remove the bolt, nut and LH exhaust manifold stay.
(c) Remove the 8 bolts and ground strap.
(d) Remove the transaxie together with the torque converter clutch from the engine.
5. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE
Remove the 8 bolts, rear plate, drive plate and front spacer.
