Title: HEADLAMP SYSTEM ADJUSTMENT

A production change implemented November 1995, for ES 300 headlamp assemblies, replaces the barrel type horizontal adjuster with an easier to read rectangular adjuster.

The following adjustment procedures update the 1996 ES 300 Repair Manual, Publication No. RM452U (Pages BE-23 and 24).





HEADLAMP AIM ADJUSTMENT:

1. INSPECT HEADLAMP AIM. Do the following before inspection:

^ Make sure the body around the headlamp is not deformed.

^ Park the vehicle on a level spot.

^ With the driver in the driver's seat, make sure the vehicle is ready for driving (with a full tank).

^ Bounce the vehicle several times.





2. ADJUST HEADLAMP IN VERTICAL ALIGNMENT.

If the bubble is outside the acceptable range of the beam angle gauge, adjust it using adjusting screw "A".

HINT:
If the gauge bubble is outside the acceptable range, check that the vehicle is parked on a level spot. Readjust the headlamp aim after parking the vehicle on a level spot.





3. ADJUST HEADLAMP IN HORIZONTAL ALIGNMENT.

If the top of the triangle mark moves away from the mark beyond the acceptable range, adjust the triangle mark back to the "0" position using adjusting screw "B".

REPLACING HEADLAMP:

1. REPLACE HEADLAMP.

2. INSPECT HEADLAMP AIM Do the following before inspection:

^ Make sure the body around the headlamp is not deformed.

^ Park the vehicle on a level spot.

^ With the driver in the driver's seat, make sure the vehicle is ready for driving (with a full tank).

^ Bounce the vehicle several times.





3. ADJUST HEADLAMP IN VERTICAL ALIGNMENT

a) Using adjusting screw "A", adjust the headlamp aim to within the specifications.

b) Make sure the gauge bubble is within the acceptable range.

HINT:
If the gauge bubble is outside the acceptable range, check that the vehicle is parked on a level spot. Readjust the headlamp aim after parking the vehicle on a level spot.





4. ADJUST HEADLAMP IN HORIZONTAL ALIGNMENT.

Using the adjusting screw "B", adjust the headlamp aim to within the specifications.
