Front Wheel Alignment
1. Measure the vehicle height.
- Tire size: P215/6O Rl6
- Height (Front): 241 mm (9.49 inch).
- Height (Rear): 282 mm (11.10 inch).
a. To get the front measuring point, measure from the ground to the center of the lower suspension arm mounting bolt.
b. To get the rear measuring point, measure from the ground to the center of the No.2 lower suspension arm mounting bolt.
NOTE:
- Before inspecting the wheel alignment, adjust the vehicle height to the specification.
- If the vehicle height is not within the specification, try to adjust it by pushing down on or lifting the body.
2. Install the camber-caster-kingpin gauge onto wheel or the alignment tester taking care to follow the specific instructions of the equipment manufacturer.
3. Inspect the camber, caster and the steering axis inclination, their measurements are as follows.
- Camber: -0°15' +/-45' (-0.25° +/- 0.75°).
- Left-Right error: 30'(0.5°) or less.
- Caster: 7°05' +/- 45' (7.08° +/- 0.75°).
- Left-Right error: 30'(0.5°) or less.
- Steering Axis Inclination (Reference): 8°50' (8.83°).
NOTE: If the camber and caster are not within the specification, adjust it by the No. 1 and/or No.2 adjusting cams.
Measuring Point Reference:
4. Inspect the toe-in. The toe-in (total) should be as follows.
- A+B: 0°06' +/- 12' (0.1° +/- 0.2°).
- C-D: 1 +/- 2 mm (0.04 +/- 0.08 inch).
NOTE: If the toe-in is not within the specification, adjust it at the rack end.
5. Adjust the camber and/or caster by doing the following.
NOTE:
- Camber adjustment should be done on the No.1 adjusting cam. After adjusting the camber, inspect the caster and toe-in.
- Caster adjustment should be done on the No.2 adjusting cam. After adjusting the caster, inspect the toe-in.
- Try to adjust the camber and/or caster to the center value.
a. Remove the engine under cover.
b. Loosen the No.1 adjusting cam bolt.
c. Turn the No.1 adjusting cam and adjust camber.
NOTE: Camber changes 5' (0.08°) and caster changes 15' (0.25°) with each graduation of the No. 1 adjusting cam.
d. Loosen the No.2 adjusting cam.
e. Turn the No.2 adjusting cam and adjust caster.
NOTE: Caster changes 7' (0.12°) with each graduation of the No.2 adjusting cam.
f. Tighten the No.1 and/or No.2 adjusting cams, as follows.
- Tighten the No.1 adjusting cam to 172 Nm (127 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the No.2 adjusting cam to 235 Nm (173 ft. lbs.)
g. Install the engine under cover.
6. Adjust the toe-in, doing the following:
a. Remove the boot clips.
b. Loosen the tie rod end lock nuts.
c. Turn the left and right tie rod ends an equal amount to adjust the toe-in.
NOTE:
- Try to adjust the toe-in to the center value.
- Make sure that the length of the left and right tie rod ends length is same. The tie rod end length difference should be 1.0 mm (0.039 inch) or less.
d. Tighten the tie rod end lock nuts to 56 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
e. Place the boot on the seat and clamp it.
NOTE: Make sure that the boots are not twisted.
7. Turn the steering wheel fully, and measure the wheels turning angle. The turning angles are as follows.
- Inside Wheel: 38°45' (36°45' - 39°45').
- Outside Wheel (Reference): 32°00'.
NOTE: If the wheel angles differ from the standard specification, inspect the toe-in.
