Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair











1. Tilt down steering column and pull out steering wheel.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove front seat.
3. Remove rear seat cushion, then the rear seat belt lower side bolt and rear seat back.
4. Remove door scuff plates, then the rear seat side garnish.
5. Remove high mounted stop light, then the speaker.
6. Remove package tray trim, then the assist grip.
7. Remove personal light, then the roof side inner and center and front pillar garnishes.
8. Remove steering column cover, then the steering wheel as described under Steering Wheel, Service and Repair.
9. Remove parking brake release lever, then the hood lock release lever.
10. Remove No. 1 undercover, then the finish plate and end pad.
11. Remove No. 1 safety pad, Fig. 25, then the coin box.

12. Remove No. 2 heater to register duct, then the No. 2 undercover.
13. Remove instrument panel box assembly as follows:
a. Pry out glove compartment door finish plate, then disconnect electrical connector from finish plate.
b. Disconnect air bag electrical connector, using care not to damage air bag wire harness.
c. Remove instrument panel box screws and nut, Fig. 26, then the box assembly. Disconnect electrical connector.

14. Remove glove compartment as follows:
a. Remove glove compartment door bolts, then the door.
b. Remove glove compartment screws, then insert plastic plate between upper portion of instrument panel and glove compartment to remove glove compartment.
15. Remove No. 2 register, Fig. 27.

16. Remove steering column as described under Steering Column, Service and Repair.
17. Remove radio with A/C control assembly as described under Radio, Service and Repair.
18. Remove upper cluster finish panel.
19. Remove instrument cluster as follows:
a. Insert screwdriver to clip holes, Fig. 28, using care not to damage instrument panel.

b. Remove instrument cluster and disconnect electrical connectors.
20. Remove cluster finish panel, then the lower console cover and lower console box.
21. Remove cup holder, then the console box screws and box.
22. Remove instrument panel bolts and nuts, Fig. 29.

23. Disconnect instrument panel electrical connectors, then remove dash panel.
24. Remove instrument panel reinforcement nuts and bolts, Fig. 30, then the reinforcement.

25. Reverse procedure to install.
