Radio - Static Noise on Weak AM Stations

AUDIO
AU001-98

FEBRUARY 13, 1998

TITLE:
STATIC NOISE ON WEAK AM STATIONS

MODELS:
'95 -'95 LS 400

Introduction
Pioneer audio systems on 1995-1997 LS 400s may exhibit static noise when listening to AM stations when going over bumps or on rough roads. This is due to poor conductivity of the antenna cable near the radio.

The antenna cable may be stretched during installation causing the ground shield in the antenna cable to pull away from the radio connector plug. This results in a weak antenna ground allowing electrical noise to interfere with the radio signal.

Affected Vehicles
1995 through 1997 model year LS 400s manufactured before VIN JT8BH22F*V0082644.
