Piston: Service and Repair

When installed, the piston front mark and connecting rod front mark should face toward front of engine, Fig. 37.

Fig. 37 Piston & Connecting Rod Front Marks:

1. Install new snap ring at one end of piston pin hole.
2. Heat piston to about 176°F.
3. Coat piston pin with engine oil, align front marks of piston and connecting rod, and push in piston.
4. Install snap ring at other end of piston hole.
