Clutch: Service and Repair

1. Remove transmission from engine as outlined under Manual Transmission, Service and Repair.
2. Place matchmarks on flywheel and clutch cover, then remove clutch cover and clutch disc, Fig. 4.

3. Remove release bearing, fork and boot, Fig. 5. Loosen clutch cover and clutch disc bolts one at a time until tension is fully released.

4. Install clutch disc and cover on flywheel. Using alignment tool No. 09301-00220, or equivalent, place clutch disc into position.
5. Using alignment tool to hold disc in position, tighten cover bolts to specifications.
6. Using suitable dial indicator with roller instrument, check diaphragm spring tip alignment, Fig. 6. Alignment should be within 0.02 inch.

7. If alignment is not as specified, use clutch diaphragm spring aligner tool No. 09333-00013, or equivalent, to adjust spring tip alignment, Fig. 7.

8. Apply lithium grease to all clutch fork contact points, then install release bearing, fork and boot to transmission.
9. Install transmission as outlined under Manual Transmission/Transaxle, Service and Repair.
