INSPECTION





1. Inspect drive belt.
a. Visually check the belt for excessive wear, frayed cords etc.
If any defects has been found, replace the drive belt.






b. Using either a Nippondenso BTG-20 (9550-00020) or a Boroughs No. BT-33-73F belt tension gauge, check the drive belt tension.
Drive belt tension:
- New belt: 150-185 lbs.
- Used belt 95-135 lbs.
If the belt tension is not as specified, adjust it.

NOTE:
- A "New belt" refers to a belt which has been less than five minutes on a running engine.
- A "Used belt" refers to a belt which has been used on a running engine for five minutes or more.





2. After installing a belt, check that it fits properly in the ribbed grooves.
