Voltage values used for "INSPECT PPS ECU", in the 1998 GS 400/300 Repair Manual, have been added to Pages SR-59 and SR-60.

Repair Procedure
1. INSPECT PPS ECU.
a. Start the engine.
b. Measure the voltage of ECU






1. Using a Voltmeter, measure the voltage between ECU terminals 2 and 6 while the engine is idling.

Standard Voltage: 0.22 - 0.27v

JT8BD68S**0004334 (GS 300)

Standard Voltage: 0.16-0.20v

VINs after
JT8BH68X**0002710 ((35 400)
JT8BD68S**0004335 ((35 300)

2. If no voltage, substitute a known good ECU and recheck.

c. Raise the vehicle and support it on stands.






d. Place the transmission in gear and while running at about 62 mph, measure the voltage between ECU terminals 2 and 6.

Standard Voltage: 0.05 - 0.12v

Standard Voltage: 0.01 - 0.07v

VINs after
JT8BH68X**0002710 ((35 400)
JT8BD68S**0004335 (GS 300)

If no voltage, substitute a known good ECU and recheck.

e. Lower the vehicle.
