Introduction

The following repair procedures were developed to eliminate a possible rubbing noise from the Steering Wheel area and rattle noises from the rear door and headliner area.

Affected Vehicles

1998 GS 300/400 vehicles.

Repair Procedure

Cruise Control Wire Harness Rubbing Noise





To eliminate a possible rubbing noise caused by the Cruise Control wire harness rubbing on the Horn wire harness (while turning the Steering Wheel) tape the Cruise Control wire harness (3 wires) to the Horn wire harness (1 wire) as shown.

Repair Procedure

Headliner/Root Wire Harness Rattle





To eliminate a possible rattle noise caused by the Root wire harness contacting the headliner, wrap a urethane sponge (T: 10 mm, W: 50 mm. L: 130 mm) around the wire harness in 2 places as shown.

Repair Procedure

Rear Door Panel Rattle








To eliminate a possible rattle noise caused by interference between the rear door panel and inside handle Lock Cable, add tape-backed urethane sponge (T: 7 mm, W: 30 mm, L: 40 mm) to the Lock Cable as shown.
