Inspection & Balancing

PREPARATION:

Warm tires to normal operating temperature to remove cold-soak flat spots (drive 10 miles at 45 mph).

CHECK:

Road test vehicle at the same speeds and on the same type of road surfaces as the customer complaint.

OK:





No Steering flutter detected.

CHECK:





Measure tire runout using dial indicator.

OK:





Tire radial runout specification: 0.055" (1.4 mm) or less.

NOTE:
For Tire Replacement: Please follow special claim coding instructions included in this bulletin.

^ NO Tire Goodwill claims will be accepted for this condition.

^ Lexus Dealers SHOULD NOT refer Lexus Customers to tire outlets for tire replacement.








PREPARATION:

Secure rotor to front hub using at least 3 lug nuts.

OK:





Front brake rotor hub lateral runout specification: 0.008" (0.2 mm) or less.

CHECK:





Measure the front hub lateral runout using a dial indicator.

OK:





Front hub lateral runout specification: 0.002" (0.05 mm) or less.











PREPARATION:

Warm tires to normal operating temperatures to remove cold-soak flat spots (drive 10 miles at 45 mph).

OK:

Unbalance is within specification (unbalance is 5 grams or less).
