Headlamp: Adjustments
1. Halogen Type:
ADJUST HEADLIGHT AIM ONLY
a. Put the vehicle in below conditions.
- Make sure the body around the headlight is not de formed.
- Park the vehicle on a level spot.
- The driver gets into the driver's seat and puts the vehicle in a state ready for driving (with a full tank).
- Bounce the vehicle several times.
b. Prepare the thick white colored paper.
c. Stand the paper perpendicularly and ensure the distance from it to the head lights is 9.84 ft.
d. Ensure that the center line of vehicle and the paper are at a 90 degree angle as shown in the illustration.
e. Draw a horizontal line on the paper where the head lights (low beam center mark) of the vehicle are to be.
f. Draw a vertical line on the paper where the center line of the vehicle is to be. (V line)
g. Turn the head lights ON.
h. Check that the head lights light up the paper as shown in the illustration.
HINT: As shown in the illustration, adjust aiming of the LH and RH lights respectively.
i. When the paper is not lighted up properly, using the adjusting bolt A, adjust the lights in the vertical direction.
HID Type:
2. ADJUST HEADLIGHT AIM ONLY
a. Put the vehicle in below conditions.
- Make sure the body around the headlight is not de formed.
- Park the vehicle on a level spot.
- The driver gets into the driver's seat and puts the vehicle in a state ready for driving (with a full tank).
- Bounce the vehicle several times.
b. Prepare the thick white colored paper.
c. Stand the paper perpendicularly and ensure the distance from it to the head lights is 9.84 ft.
d. Ensure that the center line of vehicle and the paper are at a 90 degree angle as shown in the illustration.
e. Engine running.
f. Draw a horizontal line on the paper where the head lights of the vehicle are to be.
g. Draw a vertical line on the paper where the center line of the vehicle is to be. (V line)
h. Turn the head lights ON.
i. Check that the head lights light up the paper as shown in the illustration.
j. When the paper is not lighted up properly, adjust the lights in the vertical or horizontal direction.
HINT: As shown in the illustration, adjust aiming of the LH and RH lights respectively.
k. Adjust headlight in vertical alignment.
1. Position the cogwheel A to FREE.
2. Turn the adjusting bolt A to adjust aiming of the lights in the vertical direction.
HINT: At this time, note the direction that the adjusting bolt A was tuned in and number of revolutions.
3. Turn the cogwheel B in the same direction and same number of revolutions as adjusting bolt A.
4. Align the match marks of the adjusting cogwheel A with the notch of the stopper.
5. Position the cogwheel A to LOCK.
l. Adjust headlight in horizontal alignment. a
1. Check that the cogwheel A is in LOCK position.
HINT: If the cogwheel A is not in LOCK position, adjust the headlight (refer to "Replacing headlight").
2. If the V groove is not within the acceptable range, align the V groove to the "0" mark using the cogwheel B.
