Removal and Installation






REMOVAL
1. Remove front wheel.
Torque: 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.)
2. Remove front brake caliper and disc.
a. Place matchmarks on the brake disc and axle hub.
b. Remove the 2 bolts, and brake caliper.
Torque: 118 Nm (87 ft. lbs.)
c. Support the brake caliper securely
d. Remove the 2 screws and disc.
Torque: 5.0 Nm (48 inch lbs.)

3. Disconnect ABS speed sensor and wire harness.
Remove the 2 bolts, ABS speed sensor and wire harness.

NOTICE: When removing then from the right side, do not disconnect the pad wear indicator connector.

Torque: 7.8 Nm (69 inch lbs.)





4. Check backlash bearing shaft and axle hub deviation.
a. Using a dial indicator near the center of the axle hub and check the backlash in the bearing shaft. direction.
Maximum: 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch)
If the backlash exceeds the maximum, replace the bearing.
b. Using a dial indicator, check the deviation at the surface of the axle hub outside the hub bolt.
Maximum: 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch)
If the deviation exceeds the maximum, replace the bearing.
5. Disconnect steering knuckle from ball joint.
Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the steering knuckle.
Torque: 113 Nm (83 ft. lbs.)
6. Remove steering knuckle.
a. Remove the clip and nut.
Torque: 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.)





b. Using Special Service Tool (SST) 09610 - 20012, or equivalent, disconnect the steering knuckle and remove it from the upper ball joint.

INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal, noting that after installation, check ABS speed sensor signal and front wheel alignment.
