Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

NOTICE:
^ If the wiring connector of the SRS is disconnected and the ignition switch is at ON or ACC position, DTCs will be recorded.
^ Never use the airbag parts from another vehicle. When replacing parts, replace with new parts.




1. DISCONNECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR
a. Open the glove compartment door.
b. Using a screwdriver, remove the glove compartment door finish plate from the glove compartment.

Disconnect Airbag Connector:

c. Pull up the connector from the glove compartment door finish plate.
d. Disconnect the front passenger airbag assembly connector.

NOTICE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

2. REMOVE THESE PARTS:
a. No.2 instrument panel under cover
b. Glove compartment assembly
c. Glove compartment door lock mounting bracket




3. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 3 bolts and 2 nuts.
b. Pull out the front passenger airbag assembly from the instrument panel.

CAUTION:
^ Do not store the front passenger airbag assemble with the airbag deployment side facing downward.
^ Never disassemble the front passenger airbag assembly.

INSTALLATION




NOTICE: Never use airbag parts from another vehicle. When replacing parts, replace them with new parts.

1. INSTALL FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
Install the 2 nuts and the 3 bolts.

Torque: 21 N.m (210 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)

NOTICE:
^ Make sure the front passenger airbag assembly is installed to the specified torque.
^ If the front passenger airbag assembly has been dropped, or there are cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace the front passenger airbag assembly with a new one.
^ When installing the front passenger airbag assembly, take care that the wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.

2. INSTALL THESE PARTS:
a. Glove compartment door lock mounting bracket
b. Glove compartment assembly
c. No.2 instrument panel under cover

Disconnect Airbag Connector:

3. CONNECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR
a. Connect the airbag connector
b. Install the connector to the glove compartment door finish plate.




c. Install the glove compartment door finish plate to the glove compartment.
