Introduction
A production change has been made to the 1999 LS 400 and LX 470 front blower motor. The commutator material has been changed to maintain blower speed.

Applicable vehicles
^ 1998 - 1999 model year LS 400 and LX 470 vehicles produced before VIN shown in the production change information table below.

Warranty Information





Applicable Warranty*:

This repair is covered under the Lexus Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

1. Disconnect the blower motor connector and confirm blower controller operation by connecting a test light to the blower motor connector. While changing the blower speed selector, there should be a noticeable change in light intensity.

If no change is observed, follow the repair manual procedures for inspection of proper voltage, ground sources, and input signals.





2. After confirming blower controller operation is normal, replace the front blower motor with a current production part.

NOTE:
When the blower controller senses an excessive current draw from the motor, it can briefly interrupt output to the motor. This is normal operation of the controller.

The current production part can be identified by the production code stamped on the motor housing. Confirm that the replacement part code begins with 11T, 12T, 01U or higher.
