Overhaul
DISASSEMBLY1. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE
a. Remove the 5 screws.
b. Remove the defroster nozzle.
2. REMOVE N0.1 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT
Remove the screw and the No.1 side defroster nozzle duct.
3. REMOVE N0.2 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT
Remove the screw and No.2 side defroster nozzle duct.
4. REMOVE N0.4 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
a. Remove the 2 screws.
b. Remove the No.4 heater to register duct.
5. REMOVE N0.1 REGISTER
a. Remove the 2 screws.
b. Remove the No.1 register.
6. REMOVE N0.3 REGISTER
a. Remove the 2 screws.
b. Remove the No.3 register.
7. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 2 nuts and straps.
NOTE: At the time of reassembly, please refer to the following items.
- When installing the front passenger airbag assembly, make sure that the strap is not distorted and installed to the brackets securely.
- Make sure that the front passenger airbag assembly is installed to the specified torque.
- If the front passenger airbag assembly has been dropped, or there are cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace the front passenger airbag assembly with a new one.
- When installing the front passenger airbag assembly, take care that the wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.
b. Remove the 2 bolts and front passenger airbag assembly.
CAUTION:
- Do not store the front passenger airbag assembly with the airbag deployment side facing down.
- Never disassemble the front passenger airbag assembly.
Torque: 5.6 N.m (57 kgf.cm, 50 in.lbf)
NOTE: At the time of reassembly, please refer to the following items.
- Pass the straps of the front passenger airbag door through the brackets on the right and left sides securely.
- Install the straps so that they are not pinched between the airbag and instrument panel.
8. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK STRIKER PLATE
a. Remove the 4 screws.
b. Remove the glove compartment door lock striker plate.
9. REMOVE THESE PARTS:
a. Instrument panel wire harness
b. No.1 meter hood retainer
c. No.1 radio mounting bracket
d. No.2 radio mounting bracket
e. No.4 finish panel mounting bracket
f. No.4 side defroster nozzle
g. No.1 defroster nozzle garnish
REASSEMBLY
Reassembly is in the reverse order of disassembly.
