Introduction
To reduce wind noise at the lower portion of the B-pillar of the right-hand and left-hand front windows, the following production change and field fix procedure have been developed.

This repair is covered under the Lexus Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Repair Procedure
Add EPT Sealer Sponge to Front Door Weatherstrip:
Step 1.
A. Remove the front door inner panel as shown in the 2000 MY GS 400/300 Repair Manual, Volume No.2, pages BO-12 through BO-13, steps 1 through 3 only.
B. Cut two pieces of EPT sealer sponge (Wind Noise Kit, P/N 08231-00810) that measure:
Width: 10 mm Length: 40 mm Thickness: 5 mm
C. Put one piece of EPT sealer sponge on top of the other so that there is one 10 mm-thick piece.
D. Apply the EPT sealer sponge to the interior of the front door weatherstrip as shown in Figure 1.
NOTE:
Be sure to put the EPT sealer sponge together with the rear portion of weatherstrip as shown in Side View (a) in Figure 1.
Step 2.
A. Cut one piece of EPT seater sponge that measures:
Width: 10 mm Length: 40 mm Thickness: 5 mm
B. Apply the EPT sealer sponge to the interior of the weatherstrip from Step 1 (see Figure 1) as shown in Figure 2.
C. Place the EPT sealer sponge to the rear of the original EPT sealer sponge around toward the exterior of the vehicle.
NOTE:
Be sure that the EPT sealer sponge is not visible outside of the door trim.
Step 3.
A. Cut one piece of felt that measures:
Width: 10 mm Length: 40 mm Thickness: 2 mm
B. Apply the felt to the interior of the weatherstrip as shown in Figure 3.
C. Place the felt below the original EPT sealer sponge toward the bottom of the vehicle.
NOTE:
If EPT sealer sponge is sticking out of the door trim after assembling the door trim to the door, pack the sealant into the inside of the door trim.
