Wiper and Washer Systems: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. REMOVE WIPER ARMS
2. REMOVE HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL
Using a screwdriver, remove the 11 clips and hood to cowl top seal.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
3. REMOVE RH COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER
a. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.
b. Lift up the front part of the RH cowl top ventilator louver and pull the louver off.
4. REMOVE LH COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER
a. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.
b. Lift up the front part of the LH cowl top ventilator louver and pull the louver off.
5. REMOVE FRONT WIPER MOTOR COVER
6. REMOVE WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Using a clip remover, remove the wire harness clamp.
c. Using a clip remover, remove the wiper motor connector.
d. Unfasten the 5 bolts, then slip the wiper motor and link assembly in the direction shown by the arrow A, lift up the back part and remove the wiper motor and link assembly.
HINT: Attach protective tape to the lower part of the windshield glass to prevent it from being damage.
7. REMOVE WIPER MOTOR
a. Remove the band clamp.
b. Remove the screw and No.1 link rod from wiper motor.
c. Remove the 3 screws and wiper motor.
8. REMOVE 2 PACKINGS
9. REMOVE WASHER NOZZLE
a. Disconnect the washer hose.
b. Using a screwdriver, remove the washer nozzle.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
c. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL WASHER NOZZLES
2. INSTALL 2 PACKINGS
3. INSTALL N0.1 AND N0.2 LINK RODS
4. INSTALL WIPER MOTOR
a. Install the wiper motor with 3 screws to the wiper link frame.
Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)
b. Install the No.1 link rod with screw to the wiper motor.
c. Install a new band clamp.
5. INSTALL WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY
a. Lift up the back part of the wiper motor and link assembly and install the wiper motor and link assembly.
HINT: Attach protective tape to the lower part of the windshield glass to prevent it from being damaged.
b. Slip the wiper motor and link assembly in the direction shown by the arrow.
c. Tighten the center bolt, then tighten the RH, LH side bolts.
Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)
d. Install the wiper motor connector.
e. Install the wire harness clamp.
f. Connect the connector.
6. INSTALL FRONT WIPER MOTOR COVER
7. INSTALL LH AND RH COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER
8. INSTALL HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL
9. INSTALL WIPER ARMS
a. Operate the wipers once and turn the wiper switch OFF.
b. Install the wiper arms and tighten nuts by hand.
c. Adjust the installation position of the wiper arms to the position shown in the illustration.
A: 30 - 45 mm (1.18 - 1.77 in.)
B: 29 - 44 mm (1.14 - 1.73 in.)
d. Torque the nuts.
Torque: 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
