Introduction:
GS 430/300 and LS 430 vehicles equipped with Lexus Dual Mode Mobile Phone may experience poor sound quality on the landline side during a "hands-free" call. A new telephone computer and a microphone (LS 430 Only) have been developed to improve the sound quality of the Lexus Dual Mode Mobile Phone in the "hands-free" mode.

* Telephone Computer Replacement: *
^ 2001 model year GS 430/300 vehicles.
^ 2001 model year LS 430 vehicles.
* Microphone Replacement: *
^ 2001 - **2002 ** model year LS 430 vehicles.
** Some 2002 MY LS 430 vehicles have the improved microphone even before the following VIN.

^ The * new microphone assembly * for the LS 430 can be ordered through the dealer's facing PDC as a service part.
^ The * telephone computer * is to be ordered through the DENSO exchange program by calling 1-888-668-2900.
NOTE:
Dealers must completely fill out the Diagnostic Core Return Form. Carefully handle and immediately return the original telephone computer along with the completed form in the original packaging to DENSO.
Warranty Information
Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure 1
Telephone Computer Replacement (GS 430/300, LS 430)
1. Using the Lexus Dual Mode Mobile Phone Installation Manual, locate the telephone computer for your specific vehicle.
A. Remove the telephone computer assembly.
B. Install the new telephone computer assembly, ensuring the connectors are properly seated.
Repair Procedure 2
Microphone Replacement (MIC) (LS 430 only)
1. Remove the map light assembly:
A. Using a screwdriver, remove the map light lens.
NOTE:
Tape the screwdriver tip before removing the lens to avoid possible damage to the map light assembly.
B. Remove the 4 screws and lower the map light assembly. Disconnect the 32 pin map light connector.
2. Remove the existing microphone:
NOTE:
It is not necessary to replace the MIC if an updated MIC is already mounted on the passenger side of the overhead console.
A. Disconnect the MIC connector.
B. Remove the MIC assembly.
3. Install the new microphone:
A. Position the new MIC on the passenger side of the overhead console between the two projection tabs. Secure the MIC with the supplied bracket using the existing screw as shown in Figure 1.
B. Route the new MIC wire through the original MIC mounting hole as shown in Figure 1.
C. Loop excess wire and place under acrylic board as shown in Figure 2.
D. Connect the MIC connector to the MIC amplifier as shown in Figure 1.
E. Secure the MIC wire with tape as shown in Figure 3.
F. Reinstall the map light assembly.
