COMPASS IMPROVEMENT

Some owners of 2001 or 2002 model year Lexus vehicles may note that the in-mirror compass is inoperative or shows "--" in the display. To address this condition, an updated rear view mirror assembly has been made available.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES: 2001 - 2002 model year IS300, LX470, and RX300 vehicles produced before the VINs shown below.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the mirror cover with a wrapped screwdriver.
2. Access and disconnect the mirror wire harness connector.
3. Remove the Torx(R) Screw and Mirror Assembly.
4. Install new mirror in reverse order of disassembly.
5. Re calibrate the compass as per Lexus TSB No. 0483 (IS300), "Pre-Delivery Service Procedures" and 0389 (LX430, RX300), "Initial Calibration of Compass During PDS,".
6. Verify proper operation.
