Rear Planetary Gear
DISASSEMBLY1. REMOVE REAR PLANETARY SUN GEAR
2. REMOVE REAR PLANETARY RING GEAR FLANGE
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the snap ring.
b. Remove the rear planetary ring gear flange from the rear planetary ring gear.
INSPECTION
1. MEASURE PLANETARY PINION GEAR THRUST CLEARANCE
Using a feeler gauge, measure the planetary pinion gear thrust clearance.
Standard clearance: 0.2 - 0.6 mm (0.008 - 0.024 inch)
Maximum clearance: 1.0 mm (0.039 inch)
If the clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the planetary gear assembly.
2. CHECK REAR PLANETARY RING GEAR BUSHING
Using a dial indicator, measure the inside diameter of the rear planetary ring gear bushing.
Maximum inside diameter: 38.56 mm (1.518 inch)
If the inside diameter is greater than the maximum, replace the rear planetary ring gear.
3. CHECK OUTPUT SHAFT BUSHING
Using a dial indicator, measure the inside diameter of the output shaft bushing.
Maximum inside diameter: 20.08 mm (0.791 inch)
If the inside diameter is greater than the maximum, replace the output shaft.
4. CHECK OPERATION ONE-WAY CLUTCH
a. Install the No.2 one-way clutch to rear planetary ring gear.
b. Hold the rear planetary ring gear and turn the one-way clutch.
c. The one-way clutch turns freely clockwise and locks counterclockwise.
d. Remove the No.2 one-way clutch from rear planetary ring gear.
REASSEMBLY
1. INSTALL RING GEAR FLANGE
a. Install the ring gear flange to the rear planetary ring gear.
b. Using a screwdriver, install the snap ring.
